President's Message to Members
March 14, 2016
As our AGM approaches I have been giving some thought to what the future might bring for Parrsboro& District Board of Trade. While I have enjoyed the past 4 years as President, I believe it is time to start thinking about succession. I am willing to offer for one more year only, after which it will be time for someone else be President. Actually I believe the same could most likely apply to all of your executive who have been in office for several years.
When thinking about the future, I see the following three possible options for our Board of Trade:
1. New leadership steps forward and we continue our 116 years tradition;
2. We merge with the Amherst Chanber of Commerce, perhaps to become the broader Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce; or
3. Parrsboro & District Board of Trade is completely disbanded.
The choice is yours. Do you want to continue the 116 year tradition of the Parrsboro & District Board of Trade? Do you value the contribution to our community made by your Board of Trade? Are you willing to step forward and take on a leadership role? These are some things to consider when we call for nominations at the AGM. Are you willing to become a Council member this year for transition to being on the executive of the future.
David Beattie, President
Parrsboro & District Board of Trade
